Swirl Frosting

  1. Combine corn syrup and sugar in saucepan.
  2. Place over moderate heat and cook.
  3. Heat till sugar dissolves and bubbles appear at edge.
  4. Whip whites, salt and tartar till nearly stiff.
  5. Pour hot syrup into whites, whipping constantly.
  6. Add vanilla and whip until frosting stays in soft peaks.
