Caramelized Apples

  1. Melt butter in heavy large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add sliced apples and saute 3 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle with sugar and saute until apples are golden brown and just tender, about 8 minutes longer.
  4. (Can be prepared 3 hours ahead.
  5. Let stand at room temperature; rewarm before using.)
