French Oven Beef Stew

  1. Combine beef, onions, celery, carrots in a 2 1/2 qt.
  2. casserole.
  3. Combine tomato juice, tapioca, sugar, salt, pepper and basil.
  4. Pour over meat and vegetables.
  5. Cover and bake at 300F about 2 1/2 hrs.
  6. Add potatoes and cook 1 hour longer.
  7. Stir occasionally.
  8. Serves 6.
