Grounded Skroodles
- 6 slices bacon, cut in 1/2-inch pieces
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 lb. ground round
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 large green peppers, chopped
- 1 (16 oz.) can stewed tomatoes, mashed
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato paste
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 Tbsp. Parmesan cheese
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 (16 oz.) box Skroodles noodles (corkscrew macaroni)
- In large Dutch oven, fry bacon until crisp.
- Remove from pot and set aside.
- Saute onions in bacon grease.
- Add ground round; sprinkle with 1 teaspoon salt and fry until browned.
- Stir and mash while it is frying until it becomes crumbly.
- Return bacon to pot and add the next 10 ingredients (green peppers, tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, Parmesan cheese and sugar).
- Mix together and bring to a boil.
- Cover and simmer 30 to 40 minutes.
- Stir occasionally.
- Cook noodles according to box.
- Drain and add to sauce.
- Serve with Parmesan cheese.
