Rum Buns Recipe
- 2 Packages or possibly 1 cake yeast
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- 1 tbsp. rum extract
- 1/2 c. hot water
- 1 c. scalded lowfat milk
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg, beaten
- 5 to 6 c. flour
- Mix yeast, sugar, water till yeast is dissolved.
- Add in rum, egg, lowfat milk, shortening and salt.
- Mix well.
- Add in flour.
- Knead.
- Roll to 1/4 inch thick square.
- Moisten entire square with butter.
- Sprinkle 1/2 c. brown sugar, mixed with 1 tsp.
- cinnamon over dough.
- Sprinkle 1 c. raisins over dough.
- Roll up.
- Slice in 1 inch rolls.
- Place in well greased muffin tins.
- Let rise approximately 2 to 3 hrs.
- Bake at 375 degrees till light tan on top.
