Fried Okra Salad

  1. Combine corn meal and salt.
  2. Dip okra in buttermilk and dredge in cornmeal.
  3. Heat 2 inches of oil in a Dutch oven heated to 375 degrees.
  4. Fry okra in batches until golden brown.
  5. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Arrange lettuce leaves, tomato slices, onion,and bell pepper on a plater.
  7. Add lemon dressing, stirring to coat.
  8. Top with bacon and okra.
