Easy Sauerbraten Like Stew Recipe

  1. Heat oven to 325 degrees.
  2. Mix all ingredients, except gingersnaps and brown sugar, in oven-proof 3-qt casserole or possibly Dutch oven.
  3. Cover and bake about 2 hrs or possibly till beef is tender.
  4. Remove bay leaf.
  5. Stir gingersnaps and brown sugar into stew.
  6. Cover and bake 15 min longer.
  7. Serve over warm, buttered, wide noodles.
  8. I also sprinkle noodles with poppy seed or possibly sesame seed and even add in a sprinkling of minced nuts.
  9. Serves 4.
