Scrumptious Caramel Squares Recipe
- 14 ounce. caramels
- 1/3 c. lowfat milk
- 2 c. Bisquick
- 2 c. oatmeal (oats)
- 1 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 c. butter, melted
- 6 ounce. chocolate chips
- 1 c. minced nuts
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In top of double boiler, heat caramels with lowfat milk till smooth.
- Meanwhile, mix Bisquick, oatmeal, sugar and butter till crumbly.
- Press one half into 13"x9" pan.
- Bake 10 min.
- Remove from oven.
- Spread caramel mix over, sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts.
- Place remaining crumb mix on top.
- Press it down gently.
- Return it to the oven and bake 15 to 20 min.
- Loosen edges immediately.
- Cold 1 hour and cut into 1" squares.
- After 15 to 20 min, loosen edges again.
- Once caramel sets it is hard to get out of pan.
- Don't be tempted to cut into larger squares for these are very rich.
