Whole Wheat Parker House Rolls Recipe

  1. Combine shortening, sugar, salt, and boiling water; cold to lukewarm.
  2. Dissolve yeast and 1 tsp.
  3. sugar in 1/2 c. hot water.
  4. Add in yeast mix and egg to shortening mix.
  5. Stir in flour and cracker crumbs, blending well.
  6. Place in a greased bowl, turning to grease top.
  7. Cover and let rise in a hot place till doubled in bulk.
  8. Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness; cut into 2 1/2- inch rounds with a biscuit cutter.
  9. With dull edge of knife, make a crease just off center on each round; brush with melted butter.
  10. Fold rounds over so top overlaps slightly; press edges together.
  11. Place on greased baking sheets.
  12. Let rise in a hot place till doubled.
  13. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 min.
  14. Yield: 2 dozen.
