Oven Swiss Steak

  1. Cut meat into 4 portions.
  2. Mix flour and salt.
  3. Pound into meat.
  4. Set aside remaining flour.
  5. Brown meat in small amount hot shortening.
  6. Place meat in shallow baking dish.
  7. Blend remaining flour with drippings in skillet.
  8. Add remaining ingredients, except cheese.
  9. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture boils. Pour over meat.
  10. Cover and bake in 350u0b0 oven for 2 hours or until tender.
  11. Top with cheese.
  12. Return to oven for a few minutes. Serves 4.
