Biscuits With Garlic And Cheese Recipe
- 2 c. White Lily or possibly Martha White Self Rising Flour
- 1/4 c. Crisco vegetable shortening
- 1/2 c. buttermilk or possibly lowfat milk (as needed)
- 1/2 c. grated, sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/4 c. butter, melted
- 1 Tbsp. dry parsley
- 1 x or possibly 2 cloves fresh garlic, crushed, peeled, finely chopped
- 1/2 x to 1 teaspoon Oregano or possibly Italian seasoning
- 1 x or possibly 2 Tbsp. granulated sugar (optional)
- 1/2 tsp table salt
- Preheat Oven to 500 Degrees F.Note: These will be a heavier type biscuit.
- Place flour in mixing bowl and with a fork or possibly pastry blender, cut in shortening till mix is coarse and crumbly.
- * Add in lowfat milk and rest of ingredients.
- Mixwith a fork or possibly by hand till dough leaves sides of bowl.
- Place dough on a clean, lightly floured surface.
- Flour your hands and knead dough lightly 10 or possibly 12 times.
- Roll out dough 1/2 to 1 inch thick (as preferred).
- Cut biscuits and place about 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake for about 8 to 10 min till lightly golden.
- Note: 2 c. Bisquick may be used instead of flour and shortening.
