Blue Cheese Burgers With Caramelized Onions Recipe
- 1 lb lean grnd beef
- 1/4 c. crumbled blue cheese - (abt 1 ounce)
- 2 Tbsp. minced fresh parsley
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp freshly-grnd black pepper
- 1 Tbsp. oil
- 1 lrg sweet onion sliced, and separated into rings
- 4 x rye burger buns split
- Heat grill.
- In medium bowl, combine grnd beef, blue cheese, parsley, salt and pepper; mix well.
- Shape mix into 4 patties, 1/2-inch thick.
- When ready to grill, place patties on gas grill over medium heat or possibly on charcoal grill 4 to 6 inches from medium coals.
- Cook for 11 to 13 min or possibly till patties are thoroughly cooked, turning once.
- Meanwhile, heat oil in medium skillet.
- Add in onion; cook and stir over medium heat for 3 to 5 min or possibly till tender.
- Cook 15 to 20 min or possibly till onions are golden brown and glazed, stirring frequently.
- Place buns, cut-side down, on grill.
- Cook 1 to 2 min or possibly till buns are lightly toasted.
- Place patties and onions in buns.
- This recipe yields 4 servings.
- Serving Suggestion: For extra blue cheese flavor, spread toasted buns with your favorite blue cheese dressing before assembling the burgers.
- Comments: To broil patties, place on broiler pan; broil 4 to 6 inches from heat using times above as a guide, turning once.
- Place buns, cut-side up, on broiler pan; broil 1 to 2 min.
