Apple Pie for Grownups

  1. In a bowl, toss apples with lemon juice.
  2. Combine the sugars, nuts, tapioca, and spices.
  3. Add to apples and toss to coat thoroughly.
  4. Let stand for 15 minutes.
  5. Line a 9 inch pie plate with pastry.
  6. Add apples and dot with butter.
  7. Add top crust and seal edges.
  8. Flute.
  9. Cut 6-8 slits in the top and cover edges loosely with foil.
  10. Bake at 400F for 45-50 minutes until crust is golden, filling is bubbly and apples are tender.
  11. Cool.
