Sweet Potato-Bacon Biscuits

  1. Preheat your oven to 450F degrees.
  2. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, brown sugar, salt, cream of tartar and cayenne pepper.
  4. Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Stir in Cheddar cheese and bacon.
  6. Make a well in the center of flour mixture.
  7. In small bowl, whisk together milk and sweet potato.
  8. Add sweet potato mixture to flour mixture.
  9. Using a fork, stir just until combined.
  10. Turn dough out onto a well-floured surface.
  11. Knead gently 12 times.
  12. Roll dough to a 3/4-inch-thick rectangle.
  13. Cut into 8 rectangular pieces.
  14. On the prepared baking sheet, place biscuits 1 inch apart.
  15. Bake until lightly browned, about 12 minutes.
  16. Serve warm.
