Gum Drop Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees (175 C.).
  2. Grease well and flour a bundt pan or 2 9" loaf pans.
  3. Cream together shortening and sugar.
  4. Blend in eggs and applesauce.
  5. Blend the dry ingredients well into the liquid.
  6. Fold in nuts and gum drops.
  7. Pour mixture into prepared pan(s).
  8. Bake at 350 degrees (175 C.) for about 2 hours or until pick comes out clean.
  9. Cool slightly and remove cake from pan and cool on rack.
