Fish-Shaped Cut-Outs

  1. Combine 1 cup butter, sugar, egg and vanilla in bowl.
  2. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy.
  3. Add flour and baking powder; beat at low speed until well mixed.
  4. Divide dough into thirds.
  5. Shape each third into ball.
  6. Wrap each in plastic food wrap; flatten to 1/2 inch.
  7. Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm.
  8. Heat oven to 400F.
  9. Roll out dough, one-third at a time, on lightly floured surface (keeping remaining dough refrigerated) to 1/8-inch thickness.
  10. Cut with 3-inch fish-shaped cookie cutter.
  11. Place 1 inch apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  12. Bake 6-10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
  13. Let stand 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets.
  14. Cool completely.
  15. Combine powdered sugar, water and 2 tablespoons butter in bowl.
  16. Beat at medium speed, adding additional water, if necessary, for desired glazing consistency.
  17. Tint with food color, if desired.
  18. Glaze cooled cookies; decorate as desired.
  19. Let stand until set.
