Fish-Shaped Cut-Outs
- 1 cup Land O Lakes Butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 Land O Lakes Egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 5 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons Land O Lakes Butter, softened
- Food color, if desired
- Decorator sugars, edible sprinkles, etc.
- Combine 1 cup butter, sugar, egg and vanilla in bowl.
- Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy.
- Add flour and baking powder; beat at low speed until well mixed.
- Divide dough into thirds.
- Shape each third into ball.
- Wrap each in plastic food wrap; flatten to 1/2 inch.
- Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm.
- Heat oven to 400F.
- Roll out dough, one-third at a time, on lightly floured surface (keeping remaining dough refrigerated) to 1/8-inch thickness.
- Cut with 3-inch fish-shaped cookie cutter.
- Place 1 inch apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake 6-10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
- Let stand 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets.
- Cool completely.
- Combine powdered sugar, water and 2 tablespoons butter in bowl.
- Beat at medium speed, adding additional water, if necessary, for desired glazing consistency.
- Tint with food color, if desired.
- Glaze cooled cookies; decorate as desired.
- Let stand until set.
