Chocolate Caramel Nut Bars Recipe

  1. Heat caramels with 1/3 c. lowfat milk over low heat, stirring till smooth.
  2. In another bowl, combine remaining lowfat milk, cake mix and butter; mix well.
  3. Press half of the cake mix into the bottom of a greased 13x9 inch baking pan.
  4. Bake at 350 degree for 6 min.
  5. Sprinkle 1 c. walnuts and chocolate pcs over the crust.
  6. Top with caramel mix spreading to edges of pan.
  7. Top with tsp.
  8. of remaining cake mix.
  9. Press gently into caramel mix.
  10. Sprinkle with remaining walnuts, pressing lightly into top.
  11. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 min.
  12. Cold slightly; chill.
  13. Cut into bars to serve.
  14. Makes 2 dozen.
  15. Variations: Substitute chocolate cake mix for German chocolate cake mix.
  16. Substitute Planters peanuts for walnuts.
