Apple pie baked in apple

  1. pre heat oven to 375F
  2. cut off top of 4 apples and discard.
  3. remove the inside of these apples with spoon or melon baller carefully.
  4. do not puncture the peel Try to keep the wall thickness uniform.
  5. if you are skilled use remove apple parts minus core for filling.
  6. if not use addition apples.
  7. remove peel from remaining apples if using them.
  8. slice very thinly.
  9. mix apple with cinnamon and sugar.
  10. adjust amount to your taste.
  11. stuff hollow apples with this filling
  12. roll out crust and slice into 1/4 in strips.
  13. you can add pastry around inside of opening for additional texture
  14. cover top of each apple in lattice patter with dough.
  15. place apples in 8 X 8 pan.
  16. add just enough water to cover bottom of pan.
  17. cover with foil and bake for 20 - 25 min
  18. remove foil and bake an additional 20 min or until crust is golden brown and fillings are soft.
