Pork Sausage Main Dish Pizza Puff Recipe
- 1 pound pork sausage
- 8 slices white bread
- 1 sm. tomato paste
- 1 1/2 teaspoon dry basil, crushed
- 8 ounce. Mozzarella cheese, sliced
- 3 Large eggs, beaten
- 2 c. lowfat milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Cook sausage in skillet, slowly.
- Break up meat as it cooks, cook thoroughly.
- Drain well, place 4 slices of bread in bottom of greased 8 x 8 x 2 inch baking dish.
- Combine tomato paste and basil.
- Spread over bread in pan.
- Place half of the cheese slices over this.
- Spoon all of sausage over cheese.
- Place remaining cheese slices over sausage.
- Top with remaining bread slices, trimming crusts if needed to fit.
- Combine Large eggs, lowfat milk and salt.
- Blend well.
- Pour over bread in pan.
- Cover; chill several hrs or possibly overnight.
- Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 45 min or possibly till puffed and set.
- Serves 4.
