Chocolate Meringues Recipe
- 2 egg whites
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 (3 1/2 ounce.) can shredded coconut (optional)
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 (6 ounce.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate morsels
- 1/4 c. minced walnuts
- Beat egg whites, salt, cream of tartar and vanilla at medium speed till soft peaks form.
- Gradually add in sugar, beating till stiff peaks form.
- Carefully mix in morsels, walnuts and coconut.
- Place plain paper (such as white type paper) on baking sheets.
- Drop mix by rounded teaspoonfuls onto paper, leaving space between cookies for spreading.
- Bake 25 min, or possibly till delicately golden brown in 300 degree oven.
- Cold slightly before removing paper.
- Yield: 2 to 3 dozen meringues.
