Honey Oatmeal Chewies
- 1 1/4 cups vegetable shortening butter-flavoured
- 1 cup sugar granulated
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 each eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups flour, all-purpose
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup oats, quick cooking not instant or old-fashioned
- 1 cup coconut flaked
- 1 cup raisins, seedless
- 1/2 cup walnuts in pieces
- 1/2 cup wheat germ optional
- Heat oven to 350F (180C).
- Cream Butter Flavor Crisco, granulated sugar, brown sugar, honey, egg, milk and vanilla in large bowl at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended.
- Combine flour, baking soda and salt.
- Mix into creamed mixture.
- Stir in oats, coconut, raisins, walnuts and wheat germ.
- Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake at 350F (180C) for 11 to 12 minutes for soft cookies, 13 to 14 minutes for crisp cookies Remove to cooling rack.
- Makes 6 dozen 2-inch cookies.
