Grandma's Chocolate Chip Cookies

  1. Sift flour with soda and salt, set aside.
  2. Preheat oven to 375-degrees F.
  3. Cream shortening and sugars well in a large bowl.
  4. Add eggs to creamed mixture and beat until fluffy.
  5. Add hot water and vanilla.
  6. Blend.
  7. Add flour mixture and mix thoroughly.
  8. Add nuts, oatmeal, and chocolate chips.
  9. Blend well.
  10. Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet.
  11. Bake at 375-degrees F for 8-10 minutes.
  12. Remove cookies from sheet and allow to cool on wire rack.
  13. Makes 6-8 dozen cookies, depending on how large your tsp drops really are!
