Simmered Round Steak And Vegetables

  1. Pound trimmed meat with mallet.
  2. Cut into serving pieces.
  3. Set aside.
  4. Mix 4 tablespoons flour, salt and pepper in plastic bag. Add beef and shake to coat meat.
  5. Heat cooking oil in large skillet.
  6. Add beef and flour mixture.
  7. Brown over medium heat. Layer onion, green pepper and carrots over beef and sprinkle with basil.
  8. Add wine and heat to boil.
  9. Cover and reduce heat.
  10. Simmer 1 hour until meat is tender.
  11. Transfer beef and vegetables to serving plate.
  12. Place cold water in small bowl.
  13. Blend 2 tablespoons flour and stir into drippings in skillet.
  14. Stir in bouillon granules.
  15. Cover and use medium heat until thick and bubbly.
  16. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
