Grilled Cheeseburgers with Some Kick

  1. Combine the ground beef, onion, jalapeno, 2 Tbsp.
  2. BBQ sauce, Lawrys, and pepper in a mixing bowl.
  3. Shape into patties.
  4. This is hand work, no Pampered Chef burger shooter or other cheating!
  5. This is a cheeseburger, keep it simple.
  6. I make 4 patties, but that makes pretty big burgers.
  7. Depending on your group, you may want to make them smaller.
  8. Using a brush, brush a light coat of BBQ sauce on the patties.
  9. This is not for flavor as much as to caramelize the sugar in the BBQ sauce for a nice crust.
  10. It may actually work better to do this step just a minute before they come off the grill.
  11. Grill on a charcoal grill.
  12. I almost dont want to put times here because each grill will differ in temp.
  13. I grill them for about 6 minutes on each side.
  14. Dont leave them on too long!
  15. Seriously, the most common way to ruin a good burger is to overdo it.
  16. A little pink in the middle is perfect.
  17. Put cheese on.
  18. Leave on grill for an extra minute to melt the cheese.
  19. The buns must be grilled.
  20. Dress to taste.
  21. I like tomato, lettuce, Bread and Butter pickles, ketchup, and mustard.
  22. Ah, now thats a God bless America cheeseburger!
  23. Serve with extra napkins.
