Chinese Pepper Steak Recipe
- 1 pound sirloin, cut 1/4 inch thick
- 2 tbsp. shortening
- 1/4 c. minced onion
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 pound can tomatoes
- 1 lg. green pepper, cut into strips
- 1/4 c. cool water
- 2 tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 tbsp. soy sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 beef bouillon cubes
- 1 c. warm water
- Cut beef into strips and brown in warm shortening about 15 min.
- Add in onions and garlic.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Cook for 2 min longer.
- Dissolve bouillon in warm water.
- Add in the meat.
- Cover and let simmer till meat is done.
- Add in tomatoes and green pepper.
- Cook 10 min longer.
- Combine cornstarch with the cool water.
- Add in cornstarch and soy sauce to the meat mix and bring to a boil, stirring constantly till sauce is thick and clear.
- Remove garlic.
- Serve over buttered noodles.
