Lavender Apricot Swirls

  1. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt; cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  2. Stir in lavender.
  3. Add milk and egg, stirring until just moist.
  4. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface.
  5. Knead 5 times.
  6. Roll into a 9"x7" rectangle.
  7. Spread preserves over dough, leaving a 1/2" border.
  8. Beginning with long side, roll up jelly-roll style; pinch seam to seal (do not seal ends.
  9. Cut roll into 9 (1") slices.
  10. Place rolls, cut side up, in greased 8" round pan.
  11. Sprinkle with sugar.
  12. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 35 minutes or until golden brown.
