Cottage Pie
- 1 pound Lean Ground Beef
- 1 whole Onion, Diced
- 1 jar Heinz Brown Gravy, 12 Ounce Jar
- 1 can (14 Oz. Size) Sweet Peas, Drained
- 6 cups Prepared Mashed Potatoes
- 1 cup Shredded Mild Cheddar Cheese
- Brown the ground beef and onion over medium heat in a cast iron skillet if you have one; if not, use another pan that is oven-proof.
- Once the ground beef is browned, drain grease if necessary and then stir in the jar of brown gravy.
- Smooth out the mixture, and then well do a little layering.
- Spread the peas evenly over the top of the mixture.
- Dollop (love that word, dollop) the mashed potatoes on top of the peas.
- Carefully spread the mashed potatoes to the edge of the skillet.
- Broil for about 5 minutes in the oven.
- Remove, and sprinkle with cheese.
- Let the casserole sit, and watch the cheese melt.
- Once it looks like the photo, call in the man and enjoy!
