Country Chili
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb sausage (mild or hot)
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 medium green pepper, choopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 (28 oz) can whole tomatoes including juice, chopped
- 2 (16 oz) cans red kidney beans, drained
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 cup water or substitute with beer
- Cook sausage, ground beef, onion, green pepper, and garlic in large soup pot or Dutch oven until sausage is browned and vegetables are tender; drain.
- Stir in tomatoes, beans, chili powder, cumin, salt, cayenne pepper, and water or beer.
- Cover and simmer about 1 hour.
