Victorian Lace Cookies Recipe

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Boil syrup, sugar and shortening over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  3. Remove from heat.
  4. Gradually stir in flour and nuts.
  5. Drop by teaspoonfuls about 3 inches apart on lightly greased cookie sheet.
  6. Bake 5 to 6 min.
  7. Remove from oven and let stand 5 min, before removing from sheet.
  8. May be rolled into cylindrical shape while still hot.
  9. If cooled too much, return to oven for a minute.
  10. Yield: 4 dozen cookies.
