Ma Po Tofu Recipe
- 2 blocks of tofu (12 ounce. each)
- 4 ounce. grnd pork
- 1 teaspoon garlic, chopped
- 1 tbsp. warm bean sauce
- 1 teaspoon peppercorn power
- 2 tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoon cornstarch, mixed with 2 teaspoon water
- 2/3 c. stock
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 3 c. vegetable oil for deep-frying
- Cut tofu into 1/2 inch cubes; deep fry in vegetable oil for 1/2 minute.
- Remove all oil except 3 Tbsp.
- and stir-fry grnd pork well.
- Add in garlic, warm bean paste, soy sauce, salt, soup stock and tofu.
- Boil for 3 min.
- Thicken with cornstarch paste, sprinkle with sesame oil.
- Place in bowl and sprinkle with peppercorn pwdr.
