Simple Chocolate Pies Using Ready Made Pie Crusts
- 2 sheets Commercial puff pastry
- 1 Chocolate Bar, use your favorite brand
- 1 Egg yolk
- 1 tsp water
- 1 to use for the edges of the pie crusts. Water
- Thaw and soften the frozen pie crusts at room temperature.
- Preheat the oven to 180C.
- If using a chocolate bar, break it into pieces along the lines.
- If you use a pizza cutter to cut the pie crusts, it's easy and they turn out really nice.
- Cut the pie crusts to be just slightly larger than the chocolate piece.
- Cut another one to the same size and place on top.
- Coat the edges with water and connect top and bottom securely.
- This is Tirol Brand chocolate.
- Close it up with a fork around all edges.
- I believe it's best to use a smaller fork.
- Mix together the egg yolk and 1 teaspoon of water, use a paintbrush to spread onto the pies, and bake for 15 minutes at 180C.
- Lower the heat to 160C and bake for 10 minutes.
- And then they're done.
- The finished product.
- When they're fresh from the oven, they'll have expanded a lot, but after 5 minutes, they shrink back down.
- I think they are actually bigger than the pictures depict.
- They're quite filling.
- A lot people choose to give these as gifts to their children to their husband to their boyfriends, or to their friends.
