Simple Chocolate Pies Using Ready Made Pie Crusts

  1. Thaw and soften the frozen pie crusts at room temperature.
  2. Preheat the oven to 180C.
  3. If using a chocolate bar, break it into pieces along the lines.
  4. If you use a pizza cutter to cut the pie crusts, it's easy and they turn out really nice.
  5. Cut the pie crusts to be just slightly larger than the chocolate piece.
  6. Cut another one to the same size and place on top.
  7. Coat the edges with water and connect top and bottom securely.
  8. This is Tirol Brand chocolate.
  9. Close it up with a fork around all edges.
  10. I believe it's best to use a smaller fork.
  11. Mix together the egg yolk and 1 teaspoon of water, use a paintbrush to spread onto the pies, and bake for 15 minutes at 180C.
  12. Lower the heat to 160C and bake for 10 minutes.
  13. And then they're done.
  14. The finished product.
  15. When they're fresh from the oven, they'll have expanded a lot, but after 5 minutes, they shrink back down.
  16. I think they are actually bigger than the pictures depict.
  17. They're quite filling.
  18. A lot people choose to give these as gifts to their children to their husband to their boyfriends, or to their friends.
  19. I'm confident that they'll be happy.
