Hearty New England Clam Chowder Recipe
- 4 slices bacon, cut up
- 3 green onions, minced
- 5 med. potatoes, cut in cubes
- 2 tbsp. minced green pepper
- 1 stalk celery
- 1 carrot
- 1 clove garlic (mashed) or possibly garlic salt
- 2 c. water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 c. minced or possibly grnd raw clams
- 1 pt. half & half
- In large heavy skillet, saute/fry bacon till crisp.
- Add in onions, potatoes, green pepper, celery, carrot and garlic.
- Pour in water and season with salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce.
- Cover pan and simmer 15 min or possibly till potatoes are tender.
- Mash mix slightly.
- In a separate pan heat clams in own juice for 3 min.
- Add in clams and lowfat milk.
- Stir well then heat till piping warm.
