Three Color Sugar Cookies Recipe
- 1/2 c. butter or possibly other soft shortening
- 1 c. granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoon double acting baking pwdr
- 1/4 teaspoon salt, optional
- Red & blue food coloring
- Put shortening in a bowl.
- Add in sugar.
- Cream them together.
- Break an egg and put in creamed mix.
- Add in vanilla.
- Beat well till the batter is smooth.
- Measure flour, baking pwdr and salt.
- Sift together.
- Dump half sifted ingredients into creamed mix.
- Stir and stir.
- It will be hard, but keep on stirring.
- Add in the rest of flour into batter.
- Keep mixing till you have a big lump of sticky dough.
- Divide dough into 3 chunks of equal size.
- Using food coloring, make 1 chunk red, 1 chunk blue, keep 1 chunk white.
- Stick the balls together.
- Now stick balls of dough together into 1 big ball.
- Roll between your palms into a roll.
- Like a sausage.
- Wrap in wax paper or possibly foil and chill overnight.
- Set oven at 400 degrees.
- To bake grease cookie sheets.
- Unwrap cookie roll and slice with a knife, about 1/4 inch thick.
- After 8 min, check cookies.
- Should be brown at edge.
