Glazed Pumpkin Crescents Recipe

  1. Dissolve yeast in 1 c. hot water in a large bowl.
  2. Stir in pumpkin, shortening, egg, brown sugar, salt and 3 c. of the flour; beat thoroughly.
  3. Stir in sufficient remaining flour to make dough easy to handle.
  4. Turn dough onto lightly floured surface; knead till smooth and elastic.
  5. Place in greased bowl; turn greased side up.
  6. Cover and let rise in hot place till double, about 1 1/2 hrs.
  7. Heat prunes and 1/4 c. water till thickened.
  8. Punch down dough; divide into 3 parts.
  9. Roll each part into 12" circle.
  10. Spread with prune mix.
  11. Cut into 12 wedges.
  12. Roll up each wedge, beginning at rounded side.
  13. Place with points underneath on greased baking sheet; curve to create crescents.
  14. Brush with butter.
  15. Let rise till double, about 1 hour.
  16. Heat oven to 400 degrees.
  17. Bake till golden, 15 to 20 min.
  18. Spread with Spice Glaze.
  19. Makes 3 dozen crescents.
  20. If using self rising flour, omit salt.
  21. SPICE GLAZE: Mix 1 1/2 c. powdered sugar, 1/2 tsp.
  22. pumpkin pie spice and 1 to 2 Tbsp.
  23. orange juice till smooth and of desired consistency.
