Banana Wheat Bagel Dough

  1. Place bagel dough ingredients into bread machine container as directed in bread machine manual.
  2. Set bread machine to dough cycle and run machine.
  3. Place on a lightly floured surface.
  4. Divide into pieces.
  5. Roll each in a small ball, making a hole in the center of each with thumbs.
  6. Gently pull to make a one-inch hole.
  7. Place on a greased baking sheet.
  8. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes or until double in size.
  9. In a 3-quart saucepan, bring to a boil 2 quarts water and 2 tablespoons sugar.
  10. Place a few bagels at a time in boiling water.
  11. Simmer 3 minutes turning once.
  12. Remove with slotted spoon and put back on greased baking sheet.
  13. Brush with egg and sprinkle with choice of toppings.
  14. Bake at 400 F/205 C for 20-25 minutes or until done; cool on a wire rack.
