Montana Sourdough Doughnuts

  1. Beat eggs and sugar together.
  2. Add starter, buttermilk, lard and sifted dry ingredients.
  3. Mix well.
  4. Turn out dough and knead on a lightly floured board until smooth.
  5. Roll to 1/2-inch thickness and cut with 2-3/4 inch doughnut cutter.
  6. Put on greased cookes sheet and let rise for 30 minutes.
  7. Fry in hot deep fat (370F) until golden brown and done.
  8. Roll in sugar.
