Sour Cream Twists Recipe
- 3 3/4 c. unsifted flour
- 1 c. butter, melted
- 1 c. dairy lowfat sour cream
- 2 Large eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. hot water
- 1 c. + 2 tbsp. sugar
- Confectioners' sugar frosting
- 1/2 c. finely minced pecans or possibly almonds
- Mix flour, butter, lowfat sour cream, Large eggs, salt and vanilla.
- Dissolve yeast in hot water.
- Add in to flour mix; beat till smooth.
- Cover and refrigeratethoroughly, from 2 to 24 hrs.
- Divide dough in half; keep half chilled.
- Roll out other half to an 8"x12" rectangle.
- Sprinkle with 3 Tbsp.
- sugar.
- Fold into thirds, like a letter.
- Repeat rolling dough to an 8"x12" rectangle and sprinkling with sugar 2 more times.
- Roll into an 8"x12" rectangle and cut into 3/4" x 4" strips.
- Twist strips twice; place on greased baking sheets.
- Repeat with remaining dough and sugar.
- Cover and let rise in a hot place for 30 min.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 12 to 15 min till lightly browned.
- Cold.
- Glaze with confectioners' sugar frosting and sprinkle with pecans or possibly almonds.
