Applesauce Cake

  1. Combine pecans and citron.
  2. Dredge in 1/3 cup of flour to coat evenly.
  3. Set aside.
  4. Cream butter and shortening.
  5. Add sugar gradually.
  6. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  7. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Combine flour and next 5 ingredients, alternating with applesauce. Begin and end with flour mixture.
  8. Add vanilla, lemon juice and coffee.
  9. Mix well.
  10. Stir in pecan and citron mixture.
