Wanda Skinners Polish Bread Recipe
- 1 quart. lowfat milk, scalded and cold to lukewarm
- 3/4 pound butter
- 2 heaping teaspoon shortening
- 1/2 c. hot water
- 4 Packages dry yeast, softened in the hot water
- 1 tbsp. vanilla
- 3/4 c. port wine
- 5 lbs. flour
- 8-10 egg yolks, beaten
- 2 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 tbsp. salt
- Orange rind, grated fresh
- 3/4 box white raisins or possibly dry apricots (soak before using)
- Scald lowfat milk, add in butter and shortening.
- Let cold to lukewarm.
- Beat egg yolks and mix all wet ingredients together, with fruit.
- Mix liquid with flour, sugar, salt and orange rind, adding extra flour or possibly liquid to make a manageable dough.
- Knead well and place in a greased bowl or possibly pan.
- Let rise till double, knead again, shape into loaves.

- Let rise till double and bake in 350 degree oven.
- Makes 8 loaves.
