Leah Bean'S Raisin And White Cake
- 1 2/3 c. sugar
- 1 scant c. shortening
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. sifted flour plus 2 Tbsp.
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. milk
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 1 Tbsp. molasses
- 1/2 c. ground raisins
- Cream shortening and sugar well; add eggs and vanilla.
- Beat well.
- Add flour, baking powder and salt alternately with milk. Mix well after each addition.
- Take out 2/3 of batter and place in separate bowl.
- Add 2 teaspoons cinnamon and 1 teaspoon cloves. Divide this batter between 2 greased and floured cake pans.
- To remaining 1/3 batter, add 1 tablespoon molasses and 1/2 cup ground raisins.
- Pour this batter into a third greased and floured cake pan.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for about 30 minutes.
- Frost this 3 layer cake with boiled frosting.
