Aunt Marion'S Hawaiian Short Ribs

  1. Preheat the oven to 300u0b0.
  2. Mix the flour with two tablespoons salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Dredge ribs in the flour mixture.
  4. Heat butter and oil in a large skillet; add ribs and brown on all sides. Transfer the ribs to a roasting pan, placing them in a single layer.
  5. Sprinkle with sliced onions.
  6. Combine the catsup, water, vinegar, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, chili powder and remaining salt and pepper.
  7. Pour over the short ribs and onions. Cover and bake for three hours or until the ribs are very tender. Carefully skim off all traces of fat.
  8. Serve ribs with noodles or rice.
  9. Serves five.
