Barbecue Beans
- 4 (16 oz.) cans pork and beans
- 3/4 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 lb. hot sausage
- 1 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 3/4 c. barbecue sauce
- 1 1/2 c. chopped onion
- 1 tsp. crushed dried mint
- 1 Tbsp. Lea & Perrins
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 to 3 dashes Louisiana hot sauce
- 3/4 c. molasses or honey
- 8 to 10 slices crisp bacon
- 1/2 tsp. Bitters (peephund or Angostura bark)
- 1 tsp. liquid smoke
- Cook beef and sausage until well done, making a fine texture with fork while cooking.
- Drain off fat.
- Cook bacon crisp and crush over meats.
- Open beans and drain off juice.
- Mix beans, meats and all other ingredients together.
- Bake in ovenproof bowl at 350u0b0 for 45 minutes.
- Serve hot.
