Buttermilk Brownie Cake
- 1 c. butter or margarine
- 1 c. water
- 1/3 c. cocoa
- 2 c. flour
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- Chocolate Buttermilk Frosting
- Combine butter, water and cocoa in heavy saucepan.
- Cook and stir until mixture comes to a boil.
- Remove from heat and set aside.
- Combine flour, sugar, soda and salt.
- Add buttermilk, eggs and vanilla and beat until smooth.
- Stir hot cocoa mixture into batter.
- Beat by hand until well mixed.
- Pour into a jelly roll pan which has been greased and floured on bottom only.
- Bake in 400u0b0 oven for 20 minutes.
- While cake is warm, pour Chocolate Buttermilk Frosting on top and spread evenly.
