Treasure Bars
- 2 c. flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 1/2 c. butter and cream
- 2 unbeaten eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1 c. well drained maraschino cherries, quartered
- 1 large (4 1/2) Nestle chocolate bar, cut in small pieces or 1 (6 oz.) pkg. (1 c.) semi-sweet morsels
- Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
- Add brown sugar and sugar to butter and cream.
- Beat in unbeaten eggs.
- Beat well after each addition.
- Add vanilla.
- Beat until fluffy.
- Add dry ingredients, alternately with milk beginning and ending with milk. Blend well after each addition.
- Stir in cherries and chocolate. Turn into 15 x 10 x 1-inch jelly pan or two 9 x 9-inch pans. Grease and flour bottom.
- Bake at 325u0b0 for 25 to 30 minutes.
- Frost while warm and cut into squares.
