How to remove black stains under dogs eyes.
- 1 baby oil
- 1 gauze pads
- 1 Alternative method - baby wipes
- 1 or a few treats
- There are 2 methods.
- Whatever method you choose remember to always wipe from the inside corner to the edges.
- Never from the outside edges inward.
- It takes patience if the stains have set in.
- Keep praising your dog while you work.
- First method is to soak a gauze pads with baby oil and gently wipe in an outward motion away from the corner of the eye.
- If there are crusty pieces, the oil will remove the whole thing.
- But don't force anything near the eyes.
- If there are set in stains well below the eyes, you can break them up with your fingers and wipe away.
- Second method is using baby wipes.
- I found it takes a little longer this way and if your dog is a squirmer someone has to hold their head still.
- Finish by wiping off excess oil with a tissue.
- If you want to use a paper towel, make sure it's a little damp.
- NEVER use cotton balls since they shred and can get caught in the eye and lashes.
- Give treat(s) and praise them constantly.
- Do this once a week and there will be no build up.
- Hint: Starting to clean a dogs eyes can overwhelm them at first.
- Have patience and never force them or have someone hold them tight.
- Be gentle and calm with them each and every time.
- Eventually they will become accustomed to this.
