This is the Best! Delicious Pork Spare Ribs
- 500 to 600 grams Pork spare ribs
- 5 to 10 grams Dashi stock granules
- 1 tbsp Sugar
- 2 tbsp Honey
- 2 tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Mirin
- 1 tbsp Vinegar
- 1 tbsp Sake
- Heat a generous amount of oil in a pan, and brown the meat on both sides.
- There's no need to cook the ribs all the way through at this point; just brown them.
- Transfer the meat to a large pot, and add enough water to cover.
- Heat over medium-high heat, and turn down to medium-low just before the water comes to a boil and skim off the scum.
- Add all the ingredients from the dashi stock granules to the sake.
- Simmer uncovered for 1-2 hours.
- The longer you simmer it, the more tender the ribs get.
- When there's almost no liquid left in the pot, it's done.
- My husband loves this so it's in our standard rotation.
- We make this at least once every two weeks.
- Take care not to let the ribs burn.
- It's best when the sauce is thick and coats the ribs.
- Yummy!
