Simple Apple Pie

  1. Peel the apples and soak in salted water (to keep the apples from browning).
  2. Heat all of the ingredients, then add the apples from Step 1 once it comes to a boil.
  3. Cover the pot and boil the apples for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Put the apples from Step 2 in a bowl and set them aside to cool.
  5. Cut into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
  6. Cut the puff pastry sheets in half and cut long slits in half of the sheets as shown.
  7. Place the apples from Step 3 on the sheets of puff pastry without slits.
  8. Lay the sheets of puff pastry with the slits on top and brush the edges with egg yolk.
  9. Use a fork to press the edges down to seal the pies.
  10. (The egg yolk will act as a glue.)
  11. Brush the surface of the pies with egg yolk (to add shine).
  12. Bake the pies in the oven for 15-20 minutes.
  13. All done!
