Fruity Mary Punch (New Year's Eve)
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 cup brown sugar light, packed
- 1500 millilitres red wine 2 bottles
- 1 large apples sliced, any kind
- 1 large oranges halved, seeded and sliced
- 1 cup pineapple chunks canned or fresh
- 4 whole star anise
- 1/2 cup curacao orange
- Add water and brown sugar in a Dutch oven.
- Cook over medium-high heat, stirring often, until the sugar has dissolved, 2 to 3 minutes.
- Stir in wine, apple, orange, pineapple and star anise.
- Reduce the heat to medium and cook for another 10 to 12 minutes.
- Stir in orange curacao and cook for 6 minutes more.
- Discard star anise.
- Serve the punch in heat-safe wineglasses or coffee cups.
- Use spoon to add some fruit into each glass.
