Fruity Mary Punch (New Year's Eve)

  1. Add water and brown sugar in a Dutch oven.
  2. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring often, until the sugar has dissolved, 2 to 3 minutes.
  3. Stir in wine, apple, orange, pineapple and star anise.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium and cook for another 10 to 12 minutes.
  5. Stir in orange curacao and cook for 6 minutes more.
  6. Discard star anise.
  7. Serve the punch in heat-safe wineglasses or coffee cups.
  8. Use spoon to add some fruit into each glass.
