Shortbread Cookies Recipe
- 2 sticks butter (no substitute)
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 c. flour, sifted
- 1 teaspoon flavoring (vanilla, anise or possibly whatever)
- Pecan halves
- Cream together butter and sugar.
- Gradually flour.
- Add in flavoring.
- Mix all together.
- Dough will be stiff.
- divide into 3 parts and pat down into greased 8" pie tins (or possibly 2 parts in larger tins).
- Bake for about 15 to 20 min at 350 degrees.
- They should be just slightly brown.
- Do not over cook.
- While still hot, cut into about 10 pie-shaped slices.
- Press a pecan into each slice.
- After they're cold, remove from pan.
