Beef Pepper Steak
- 1/4 c. Crisco oil
- 1 lb. round steak, cut into thin strips 1/8 inch thick
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 2 green peppers, thinly sliced
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1 c. cold water
- 4 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 2 tsp. garlic salt
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- 1 clove garlic, cut small
- 2 tsp. sugar
- Heat oil in skillet.
- Add meat and brown.
- Remove meat to dish.
- Add onion, garlic pieces and green pepper slices to skillet and cook until just tender.
- Dissolve cornstarch in water and soy sauce.
- Add sugar, garlic salt and pepper.
- Pour this into skillet over vegetables, stirring until sauce is thickened and clear.
- Add cooked meat, cook about 5 to 10 minutes longer and serve over hot rice.
- Makes 4 servings.
